That was my honest moment.
Too many guys have a pride problem. They’d rather miss something great and sincere than be themselves and show their weaknesses.They wrap themselves up in false claims to make things easier for themselves, but lying to yourself is worse than putting your pride aside.
Some pedestals are higher than others. You didn’t always climb it by yourself, people put you up there. You feel like you have a duty to show them you deserved it and try your hardest to honour your status. What will they think? You’re up there, you have everything to lose. You can’t break this image they built for you, it’s so comfortable. You want their eyes to be the distorted mirror showing yourself in a different light.
Some pedestals are higher than others. They’re often hard to give up. Some are so high it’s scary to step off. But when you’re up there, you have nothing to prove. If you’re up there, it’s that you earned it. Don’t overdo. You can hardly step off, but they can make you fall at every moment.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that when people look up to you, they only wait for you to bend down and be real to them. They already love you, now sincerity matters more than everything to them. Putting your pride aside is not easy, but it’s the beginning of real relationships. Showing yourself as you are is the only way to solve problems and not to avoid them by hiding behind built-up behaviours. Girls love boys who can show their sensibility, just like boys love to be reassured.
